Energy and New Year's Resolutions

December 30, 2020

We are ready to say goodbye to this year with great joy, hoping that the next one will be a million times better. I think that all of us, worldwide, have lived a 2020 that we didn’t expect, that we couldn’t plan nor control, but I don’t want this text to reinforce that negativity that we have probably experienced a little or a lot over the course of this year, we have had enough of listening, reading, thinking and feeling bad news. This text is about connecting with our energy and enhancing it.

The celebration of the New Year is ideally suited to make energetic discharges of what we do not want for ourselves and to charge ourselves energetically with what we do want. No wonder it’s celebrated globally with folkloric rituals and customs. But why is it suitable? Because of the simple fact of being aware that a cycle ends and a new one begins.

Remember that thought is energy and something that you should never forget is the link between energy and consciousness. The formula is very simple:
The greatest the awareness the more energy directed towards the creation and transcendence of our Being.
The end of the year and the beginning of the new one is a time when we are much more aware of what we no longer want, but above all of everything that we do yearn for, the so-called resolutions.
The rituals and resolutions give us the opportunity to learn from what has happened in the closing cycle and make positive changes in our lives.

In my experience, maybe because of my own family traditions or maybe because of the culture in which I grew up, we make rituals and resolutions that focus on having health, love and money, I am sure that is the same for many. So, whether for fun with your family or as a serious commitment to yourself, be sure to do a closing and welcoming ritual, even if it's just one

I want to invite you to take a moment to think and set your resolutions knowing the motivators behind them, make sure they have focus on Being and Giving. Having health is not only limited to the physical body, but integrates your mental, emotional and spiritual state; finding love begins with an unconditional love for yourself and that will be reflected in your loving and compassionate treatment with the people around you; that money is only a mean, but not an end and that instead money is to live in a state of abundance where conscience reigns and you recognize that the source of all good is within you.

And once my invitation has been made, returning to my yogi essence, I offer this list of really resolutions that might want to add to your list.

1. Wake up without immediately checking your phone. Take a minute to acknowledge yourself in your full presence, give thanks for whatever comes to your mind, and give yourself love placing your hands on your heart.

2. Five minutes of mindful breathing as your morning meditation ritual. You may still be sleepy or you may already feel fully awake, it doesn't matter, what is important is that you create the habit of being aware of what happens in those 5 minutes. Awareness in the breath will help you to keep your mind focused and not drift into your thoughts, but if it does happen, allow them to pass and try to be present.

3. Twelve sun salutations. You do not need much space. It is a complete exercise for your joints and muscles, and also a meditation in movement where there is attention in the breath and in the physical, mental and emotional sensations. It is energy flowing harmoniously.

4. Fifteen min of yoga asanas. Whether you let yourself be guided by someone or you venture to create your own sequence, the asanas will give you a particular benefit depending on which ones you practice and will activate your energy.

5. Just as you generate a positive intention at the beginning of each class, do it when you wake up and bring it to your mind every time you remember. You are again directing your attention and awareness towards it and therefore your positive energy.

6. End your day with a minute or 5 minutes of silence before bed. Notice how the beginning and the end of the day are equally important and you do them with awareness and full presence. Finish your day with thoughts of appreciation for the first thing that comes to your mind, no matter how big or insignificant it may seem.

Unconditional love, compassion and gratitude are the key to connect with your Self, it is the formula to be happy, to be healthy, to be loved, to live in abundance.

Thanks to all the wonderful things that 2020 left us, welcome to everything that 2021 will give.
