Still as a student my mom insisted I should do yoga, mammas know best, right? I took my time but eventually listened. We went together to a small studio down the corner, and I got hooked. I continued practicing yoga asana with some Bryan Kest Power yoga videos because I wasn't able to pay for classes. As soon as I could , I tried different teachers until I found the one whom I consider my greatest guide in this path. I stayed by his side for 7 years; during these years I had my first YTT in Yoga Espacio and I began my experience as a Yoga instructor.
In 2014 I traveled to Thailand for my second YTT in Advanced Ashtanga Vinyasa, specializing in the Rocket sequences of Larry Schultz. I was definitely still carried away by the physical drive that challenging asanas can give you. I have to admit that this part of my asana training was ruled by ego.
As many new instructors, I felt insecure and doubtful of my skills as a teacher so I kept my classes private, only to people I knew. I still had my office job which gave me security and comfort but I definitely wanted to learn more - this yoga thing was staying for good.
Soon after, I moved to Dubai. What a change! Definitely the most enriching decision of my life, even with everything that comes with a radical change and the adaptation process. I reached out to yoga studios, practiced my English (to feel somehow not too nervous to say something wrong while instructing), did demo classes, interviews, and finally got my first shot at a yoga studio. Another part of my journey had begun, one in which the ego was not dominating, and instead, there was an awakening of purpose, there was satisfaction in giving.
In Dubai I took my first Yin Yoga training and months later I traveled to Rishikesh for 2 months for another YTT. This was one the most nourishing learning experiences of my life. Where else to deepen your knowledge of yoga if not from Indian culture and yogic teachers next to Mother Ganga river.
I have to say the more I study, the more I know that it will be an endless learning journey. I know I’m not even close to feeling that I know enough to call myself a teacher, but I believe that the love and passion I have for yoga is enough to share my practice, hoping that can help others in their own path.
I believe serving is the most honorable, compassionate and humble act. Hence, when I decided to make my yoga practice my professional vocation I knew I was on the right path to serve in the best way I knew how. By sharing my yoga practice consciously and in a loving way, I seek to be a better version of myself.
I feel privileged and blessed to be able to share with others what I know and what I will continue to discover. Together with my sister and my husband we created this space hoping we can share transformative experiences in the journey of self discovery and the awakening of the best self.
